Inside the Surge: A Canadian’s Perspective on Transition in Afghanistan

Colonel David Patterson will describe his experience in Kandahar as a senior member of the 10th Mountain Division staff at Regional Command – South during a critical time for the mission there. The effect of the “Obama Surge” and the withdrawal of the Canadian combat mission, as well as his experience as a mentor to Afghan security forces will be reviewed.

Pearl Harbor 70 Years Later: Understanding the True Intent Behind the Japanese Attack

The Japanese attack that was executed at Pearl Harbor on 7 December 1941 was not the attack that was originally planned nor was it the attack that was supposed to happen according to the Japanese Plans when the Japanese carrier force left Japan. This presentation examines the original Japanese plan, why the plan was not executed and explores the possible impact on the Pacific Theatre had the Japanese executed either of the two original plans.
